Player Related Rules

We play by the World Series of Poker - Tournament Directors Association (TDA) Rules

1. Sign-up sheets and seating order

  a. Players may sign up for a tournament in advance if allowed by the hosting establishment. However players will be seated based on when they check-in for the tournament. A player that signs up a week prior and is number one on the list but is the 20th person to check into a 2 table tournament will be the 2nd alternate.
  b.

Players will be asked to take a seat card to determine where they will sit to begin the tournament.

  c. If a seat is available, a player arriving and checking in, prior to the end of the first round will be admitted to the tournament.
  d. No player will be allowed to participate in an event that arrives after the first round is completed.

2. Alternate

  a. Any player that checks in for a tournament prior to the tournament starting will be admitted into the tournament no matter how many alternates are ahead of him.

b.

Any player that checks in after the tournament starts but prior to the end of the first round will be able to be added to the alternate list.

c.

No player will be allowed to participate in an event that arrives after the first round is completed.

3. Consolation Games

  a. A consolation game will be offered at any tournament that has two or more tables. These games will begin once a table and dealer become available.
  b.

There must be at least 6 players that want to participate. A player does not have to have played in the main tournament to participate in the consolation game.

  c. The consolation game is purely for fun, the winners of these games do not qualify for other events.

Basic Sequence of play for Texas Hold'em:
1. The two players to the left of the dealer begin by posting the blind bets (big blind and small blind).
2. Two pocket cards are dealt to each player - face down.
3. First round of betting occurs. Options are to fold, call or raise. Only one bet and three raises are allowed in any round. Players cannot "check" in the first round, as blinds are bets, and are not antes.
4. Three communal cards (the flop) are dealt face-up in the center of the table. All communal cards are active and can be used in combination with each player's two cards.
5. Second round of betting occurs. Options are to check, fold, bet or raise.
6. Fourth communal card (the turn) is dealt face-up.
7. Third round of betting occurs. Options are to check, fold, bet or raise.
8. If, at this stage, there are still at least two vying players, the fifth and final communal card (the river) is dealt face-up.
9. Final round of betting follows.
10. All remaining players can create the best five-card hand possible. You can use either a) both pocket cards & three communal cards; b) one pocket card and four communal cards; c) all five communal cards.
11. The best hand wins the pot. If two or more players have the same winning hand, the pot is split equally between them.
2. 12. You must declare that you are playing the board before you throw your cards away; otherwise you relinquish all claims to the pot.
Texas Holdem Poker Rules

These rules deal only with irregularities:
1. If the first hole card dealt to either the small blind, the big blind or the button, a misdeal results. The dealer will retrieve the card, reshuffle, and re-cut the cards. If any other hole card is exposed due to a dealer error, the deal continues. The exposed card may not be kept. After completing the hand, the dealer replaces the card with the top card on the deck, and the exposed card is then used for the burn card. If more than one hole card is exposed, this is a misdeal and there must be a re-deal.
2. If the flop contains too many cards, it must be re-dealt. (This applies even if it were possible to know which card was the extra one.)3. If the flop needs to be re-dealt because the cards were prematurely flopped before the betting was complete, or the flop contained too many cards, the board cards are mixed with the remainder of the deck. The burn card remains on the table. After shuffling, the dealer cuts the deck and deals a new flop without burning a card.
4. If the dealer turns the fourth card on the board before the betting round is complete, the card is taken out of play for that round, even if subsequent players elect to fold. The betting is then completed. The dealer burns and turns what would have been the fifth card in the fourth card's place. After this round of betting, the dealer reshuffles the deck, including the card that was taken out of play, but not including the burn cards or discards.
5. The dealer then cuts the deck and turns the final card without burning a card. If the fifth card is turned up prematurely, the deck is reshuffled and dealt in the same manner. If the dealer mistakenly deals the first player an extra card (after all players have received their starting hands), the card will be returned to the deck and used for the burn card. If the dealer mistakenly deals more than one extra card, it is a misdeal.
6. If a player must leave the game due to time circumstance, the dealer is instructed to pick up the players chips and return them to the tray. This is the final ruling as an intentional 'Bust-out' is a disruption to the game and is not fair to other players.
